From the Pastor’s desk...

We live in a world of darkness. Spiritual blindness affects the masses. All around us, people are starving to death spiritually. Multitudes are afflicted with the disease of sin and ultimately that disease will kill them unless something is done.

The troubling thing about all of these things, is that there is not a doctor or hospital anywhere in the world that help those that are afflicted. Sadly, there are thousands that will slip off into eternity each and everyday. It is no wonder that there is so much hopelessness and despair.

Facing such trouble and darkness, is there anything we can do? Fortunately, there is. Jeremiah reminds us that there is a “balm” (medicine) in Gilead and that there is a “physician” there that can heal the people. The medicine that was found there was very unique and very powerful and the physician there knew how to use it very skillfully.

Spiritually speaking, this medicine that Jeremiah speaks of is forgiveness and the Physician that he speaks of is God. The call of the church, God’s people, is to bring those afflicted by the disease of sin to this “Great Physician” that they might be healed. Know this...if we will bring them, He will surely heal them without fail.
